New Features, Bug Fixes, and Divi 5.9 Support
The changes released between the Divi 5.9 integration and Fluid Base 1.3.88 include new features, compatibility improvements, and targeted bug fixes.
Divi 5.9 Support
Divi 5.9 introduced internal technical changes that required Fluid Base to be reviewed, adapted, and tested against the updated Visual Builder.
- Fluid Base spacing and typography variables were updated to remain compatible with the current Divi 5 Visual Builder.
- Paragraph Orphans and Balanced Headings are now handled natively by Divi 5.9. The corresponding Fluid Base fix was removed from Divi 5 but remains available for Divi 4.
- A new optional setting can disable user-configured animations and scroll effects at widths up to 981px while leaving desktop effects unchanged.
Typography and Visual Builder
- Font-size overrides are now enabled by default for modules that provide Fluid Base typography controls.
- Missing semantic font-size tokens can be restored for active modules through Repair Module Ownership without replacing existing values.
- Unitless line heights now calculate correctly against the active module
font size. - Global Body and Heading line-height values now render consistently in the frontend and Visual Builder.
- Module duplication now preserves copied values and detached controls when Divi assigns new module IDs.
Row and Blog Layouts
- An independent Row Max-Width control was added alongside Row Width.
- Classic left- and right-sidebar layouts now follow Fluid Base Row Width and Row Max-Width on desktop and in stacked layouts.
- Duplicated bottom spacing was removed from Divi Builder single posts.
- The additional Row Height above stacked classic sidebars was removed.
- A new post-listing margin controls spacing between direct entries on classic blog, archive, and search pages.
- Primary menu overflow detection now measures direct top-level items without treating dropdown content as part of the available menu width.
Other Improvements
- Media Library alt and title metadata can be synchronized with rendered images without rewriting saved module content.
- Builder ownership operations and frontend CSS cache writes now handle concurrent requests more reliably.
- Visual Builder scanning and cache handling were refined to reduce unnecessary repeated work.
Ongoing Maintenance
Maintenance remains a constant part of Fluid Base development. Major Divi releases such as 5.9 can change Builder data structures, controls, or rendered output. Each relevant change must be reviewed, integrated, and tested with Fluid Base across Divi 4 and Divi 5 to maintain reliable behavior in both supported versions.
